Our founder, Lisa Valerio, has been involved since the early 90’s helping orphanages and conducting educational outreach efforts in the Philippines. In 2003 she had a son, Nathan, who was diagnosed with autism. As a tireless advocate for her son's well-being, family and friends in the Philippines asked Lisa to share the knowledge and resources that she had developed to support Nathan.
Lisa started building a team and a nonprofit organization to provide support for kids with learning and developmental differences, as well as for their families, caregivers and educators. In recognition of its origins, this organization was named for the Fenixia flower, which is only found in the Philippines. The name is also a reflection of its ambitions, as the Fenixia is a member of the daisy family, found in every part of the world and every color of the rainbow.
